"Once I take out my pots and pans I'm at home"

Our mother, our grandmother Elisabeth Raab would often say those words when asked about how she managed to adjust to a life of never truly being at home. Her Hungarian countryside home was lost to a dark chapter of history and her sojourn to create a new home brought her across four continents. And although she settled comfortably in Canada, her real home was always an elusive memory.

Yet somehow she managed to create a loving and compassionate home for everyone in her world. But when she cooked and baked her Hungarian recipes, she brought the then to the now, electrifying our very taste buds.

Because after all, it is the meals we share that always bring us home.
